What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling can be referred to trigger point needling and intramuscular manual therapy. Dry needling is done with very thin, single-use, stainless steel needles of varying sizes depending on which structures the therapist is targeting. It is important to note that the needles do NOT inject fluid or medication into the body. There are various techniques to dry needling and the needles will remain in your skin for a short period of time determined by the practitioner.

Dry Needling Explained:

The practitioner places the needles into “trigger points” which was taut bands of skeletal muscle. The needles are designed to stimulate the trigger points caused by stubborn, irritable muscle and relieve the spasm. There is an immediate degree of tissue relaxation and often decrease in pain following the treatment.
